I’ve been knitting a sweater with a skull and crossbones on the front because how could I not? It uses bulky yarn which I haven’t used much before, but omg it goes so fast! I like this! And since it goes so fast, it’s positive reinforcement, so I want to spend ALL my time working on it, so I haven’t been spending much time online, so win win! (Pattern is Hook by Martin Storey.)

I NEED PHOTOS. When you're done, of course. :D

Yes friend, this. I've been spending so much LESS time online and when I am, I've been limiting interactions and trying to sculpt my algorithm a bit better.

I miss the conversations but, that's why we have comment sections and I just need to be better about using them.

Saaaaame. BIG same. I've got a couple of ongoing classes/learning groups where I need to interact as part of the program, and by the time that's done, sometimes I've got, like, half a spoon and some spoondust left over, and that's just about enough to make a pizza and stare at the dog...so commenting or conversing is hard on those days. So I hear you. <3

But yeah damn it I just deleted something I shared the other day that somebody said they were sure was AI. I didn't recognize it and I didn't know that they could do this particular thing , in my defense, but I deleted it anyway. Know better, do better.

AI is hard, friend. It's really good at pretending to be human and it's really hard to catch, like the fae. I think we all get fooled sometimes.

What Rain said. As the tech gets better and more trained on actual human work, it's going to get even harder to spot, too.

which is yet ANOTHER reason why I think it's completely unethical to use it knowingly. :/

I've apparently been pretty lucky with the Book of Face...mostly I DO get cats and dog and friends and art and recipes. I giggle once in a while when I mention the current pain level when I get a spate of reels and ads, but mostly they're benign or I hide them. Mostly I don't talk politics or religion because #1, what's the point, and #2, people have a right to their beliefs and I'm not going to change them...AND I don't have time or energy for the BS.

But as I've mentioned before the thing that I miss on Shiny Things is interaction, response. Conversation. Of course I love to read about what's going on with you, but I also like back and forth, I'll admit.

I've definitely gotten myself In a knot in the past on social media, of course. But I've got an awfully good about just deleting or blocking or snoozing.😜

Agreed, on the interaction bit. They keep adding new features over here to make things more interactive, but I haven't figured them out yet. (And I have to admit that sometimes it's nice to just say my bit and go be spoonless with no expectation of conversation, tbh. I think my Inner Introvert's been kind of loud lately.) :)

I sure get that!! Sometimes I would a lit rather no one respond! Of course if it's really likely to stir the whirlwind I change my mind and delete it. 😜

I’m also knitting a sweater. No skull & crossbones here, but I’m pretty happy with the rainbow stripes! It’s fingering weight yarn and fisherman’s ribbing, and I’m getting to the last few inches on the body before I pick up the sleeves. It’s taking forever, but it’s going to be so squishy and amazing!

I’m also having fun with diamond painting kits. (Diamond painting: like if cross stitch and paint by numbers had a sparkly, sparkly baby.) I’m finding that diamond painting plus audio books is a great past time!

Also also, I’m playing with embroidery a bit. I haven’t done any embroidery since high school, and FB has been advertising embroidery kits pretty heavily. I like encouraging crafty ads, so I bought a couple of kits to try out. Verdict: the kits these days are pretty nice, and I’m way better than I was in high school (more patience and dexterity, and YouTube tutorial videos exist now!). That said, this will probably not be a long term hobby; it makes my thumbs ache, and I’m way too prone to stabbing myself. But I like knowing how to do it in case I find a small project that calls to me!

Also also also, I wish I could post picture comments here to show off the crafty things I’ve been doing. I made a roundup post on FB with pictures if you want to see.
