Why subscribe?

(Right now, you totally shouldn’t. I don’t have anything special for subscribers yet.)

(Yet. Stay tuned.)

(later —→ ) You’ll be able to subscribe to get the long version of my posts, and the publication archives.

Stay up-to-date

Never miss an update—every new post is sent directly to your email inbox. For a spam-free, ad-free reading experience, plus audio and community features, get the Substack app.

(^^^ Substack wrote that. But when it says “audio”, there might be that, so you may want to get the app if you don’t have it already.)

Join the crew

(The “crew”? Y’all. I would never call any of you my “crew”.)

(My Cohort of Shadowy Sorcerers What Always Stop to Pet Dogs, yes. “Crew”, no.)

(^^^ yet more platform-generated marketing-garble. I’ll let you know when there’s more to see.)

THAT SAID…

This is my escape from Facebook, I hope. After more than a decade of being one of Zuckerberg’s mindless minions, sharing observations and connecting with all y’all to further his (probably nefarious) purposes, I’m breaking away and delivering my mad meanderings, pithy witticisms, and general babbling straight to your email instead.

(Okay, fine. I’m just changing overlords. But it seems like it’s time.)

Glad you’re here with me.

If you don’t already know me:

Hi. I’m Eliza. I live in a strange, enchanted cottage between the mountains and the sea in western Washington State, USA. I’ve been doing the whole sharing my life online thing in one form or another since…(oh dear lord) 1993. I’ve done a lot of things.

I have the world’s naughtiest dog. He’s also one of the world’s cutest, so it balances out. I tell a lot of dog stories.

I draw stuff. I’m an illustrator, though not a particularly good one, for the record. I also make stuff, go on adventures and write about them, and lately, make little games. I’m very much into trees, psychogeography, reading way too many books, and zines. I also kind of like my husband, J, who is a good sport for putting up with my general nonsensery.

Glad you found your way here. Sit! Stay a while! I’ll make cookies.
